During June and July 2004 the Board of Directors conducted a survey of the membership of the NA/WPN concerning the Horse International magazine, the lack of a 2004 Stallion Directory and the impact this decision has had on our members. By an overwhelming majority, the membership has spoken and the decision has been made to reinstate the Stallion Directory in 2005. The Directory will return to a printed format, not CD format, and advertising will be accepted to help offset the costs of the publication.
Applications for stallion activations and advertising rate sheets will be mailed and posted on the website by September 1, 2004. All advertising and stallion page information must be received in the NA/WPN office by October 15, 2004 in order to be included in the 2005 Stallion Directory.
In an effort to respond to the breeders and owners of hunter type horses already registered in the riding horse section of the studbook, the NA/WPN will offer an additional hunter class, Hunter Undersaddle Evaluation, at the 2004 keurings in Virginia and California. This class will also be offered at all keurings in 2005. Any NA/WPN or KWPN registered horse age 4 or older (registered Foalbook, Studbook, Auxiliary Foalbook, Auxiliary Studbook, Register A or Certificate of Pedigree) may enter the Hunter Undersaddle Evaluation class---which will consist of the riding test portion (Hunter IBOP) of the hunter inspection process. The introductory fee for this class is $50.00. Entry for this class may be written on the Keuring Entry form (available as a download at http://www.nawpn.org/kinfo04.pdf. Entries will be evaluated on the flat and in two rounds over fences. A score of 0-60 will be given. Scoring certificates will be issued to all participants. The horse will retain its original registration papers and registration status. In order to be inscribed into Dutch Hunters, NA/WPN all elements of the hunter inspection must be fulfilled.
Additionally, the Board of Directors has agreed to an introductory fee of $100 for hunter keuring classes 4 and 5 (3-7 Year Mare for Hunter Book and Mares 8 and Older for Hunter Book). Due to these changes, entries for the hunter classes will be accepted through August 6, 2004 without a late fee.
