The pedigree of the foal - computed through parents and grandparents - cannot have more than 62.50% Saddlebred and/or Hackney.
(Example: A foal has 62.50% improvement blood if, for instance, the father is an American Saddlebred stallion (100%) and the mother is a daughter of a halfbreed hackney (25%). These foals will be registered in the foalbook, if the father (Saddlebred) is accredited for the harness horse breeding program.)

Foals by a KWPN-accredited American Saddlebred or KWPN-accredited Hackney stallion or approved with an acknowledged studbook for the harness horse breeding type out of a KWPN-Studbook Gelders horse, KWPN Foalbook Gelders horse, Register A Gelders horse or registered with an acknowledged studbook for the Gelders horse breeding type.

OR
Foals by a KWPN approved or accredited for the Gelders horse breeding type out of a KWPN Studbook harness horse, KWPN Auxiliary Studbook harness horse, KWPN Foalbook harness horse, KWPN Auxiliary Foalbook harness horse , Register A or B harness horse or registered with an acknowledged studbook for the harness horse breeding type.

The pedigree of the foal - computed through parents and grandparents - has more than 12.50 % Saddlebred and/or Hackney.

Foals that do not qualify for registration in either the KWPN Foalbook or Register A IF at least one parent is a registered KWPN harness horse or if at least one parent is registered with an Acknowledged Studbook for the harness horse breeding type.
